Three shoplifters stole nearly $12,000 in women’s underwear from a New Jersey Victoria’s Secret store last Tuesday.  The thieves had special shopping bags that were designed to block the anti-theft sensors in the store. The shoplifters stuffed nearly $12,000 of merchandise into the bags and walked right out of the Newport Center Mall store, all during business hours.
Upon investigation, surveillance cameras revealed footage of the thieves: two men and one woman. The footage showed them stuffing large quantities of undergarments into their bags and walking right past customers and staff. Police report that the shoplifters took over $6,900 in panties and more than $4,900 in bras. Victoria’s Secret bras retail anywhere from $30 to over $50. Panties usually cost between $5 and $20.
The crime was reported to Jersey City police Tuesday night (April 20th, 2007). So far, no arrests have been made.
